hello and welcome to my website
I am an artist and blogger doing my best to lighten my footprint on this beautiful planet.
I paint in oils and acrylics and also work with cloth, creating narrative paintings and appliquéd and embroidered textile art.
My work has changed and evolved hugely over the last few years and I hope it will continue to do so, but no matter how much it changes everything I do
has its roots in my sense of humour and the absurd, past experience, my surroundings and my love for this planet and the British landscape. I am deeply connected to the earth, I see everything around me as sentient, and if magic isn't real I fiercely want it to be. I think a lot of my imagery simply depicts a world I would like to inhabit, one where the planet is loved, women are powerful and magical and human absurdity is embraced. This holds true for my cloth making as well.
Like most creative people I get stuck occasionally, when this happens I return to observational work - usually landscapes, but I also find abandoned buildings fascinating -you can see these images on my landscapes and buildings page.
A habitual sketcher of people for years now, I am also making figurative work based on earlier sketches.
I blog about all of these pursuits here - and I hope you will enjoy what I do and how I write about it.
I can be contacted by completing the form on my contact page or by email.
